horseshoes For Horses – Where’s Your Mouth at When You’re Working on Your Horse?

Have you ever seen a picture of a person with horseshoes for horses? In my humble opinion, they look sort of silly to me, but I suppose they have been used by more than one person. In fact, they are so common and so much have been taken for granted that I can’t imagine there are many people in the world who wouldn’t own at least one.

What is a horseshoe? A horseshoe is typically a manufactured object, usually made from metal, but sometimes made partly or entirely of modern-day synthetic fibers, designed primarily to protect a horse’s hoof against normal wear and tear. The purpose of a horseshoe, or any other type of equestrian equipment for that matter, is to secure the horse’s foot and leg in place. Think of them as little flaps or cuffs that go around your arm and leg, holding it up so it doesn’t slip out of place while you walk, trot, or dance. They’re not just for pulling reins anymore.

Have you ever seen someone without horseshoes for horses? I have and I’m ashamed. It’s happened to me several times, most notably when I was working on a farm and the stable owner wanted to cut down some trees in the back yard. Naturally, he decided to cut the trees down without using the horseshoes. It took several trips back and forth to fix the problem, which was probably an hour or two of work… and we finally got it done!
